Skoda Yeti Active 4X2 is the Czech car makers cross over SUV in India. This mixed bag of surprises is doing well for itself in the Indian auto market. The SUV looks elegant but fails to give that macho appeal which is so known to SUV styling and design. The car is a soft off roader when it comes to the designing of the car. Skoda Yeti Active 4×2 is powered by a turbocharged engine which makes up for all the brawn in the car. The all wheel drive has 2 rows of sitting and is a roomy car when it comes to the comfort part. With the trademark Skoda design which has its own elegance Yeti is no different. The practical use of sense when it comes to space and styling can be seen in the interiors of the car. All in a package of surprises Yeti holds well on Indian off road terrain. The car has been technologically well equipped to take into account the comfort of the drive. The car is tad higher on the price tag which sticks out like a sore thumb when you compare the prices of its competitors which offer more muscular variants on the platter. With soft looks and added knick knacks to give it SUV feel but when it comes to getting behind the wheel, Yeti makes one feel the king of the road. Drive quality and experience is where the car scores all the brownie points. Skoda Yeti as the name suggests is easy on the hilly terrain and scores full points when it comes to handling the car on steep edges and curves. With amazingly high class car mechanics and fluidity of the suspension, the car is smooth on the pothole and hurdle infested road as well. With fuel economy and power in its heel which gives it a lighter feel, the car offers superb drive quality. With SUV fever gripping the Indian auto bazaar and the car makers going gaga over makeovers and fresh avatars, Yeti glides in with its soft style and stands apart when it comes to graded elegance and goes easy on eyes.
Exterior
The dimensions of the Skoda Yeti are 4233 mm in length and 1793 mm in width and stands tall at the height of 1691 mm. Such gracious interiors ensure comfortable head space and legroom. the car has a good ground clearance of 180 mm which ensures a smooth drive and one can explore the wild luxuriously. The car has a wheelbase of 2578 mm and minimum turning radius of 10 mm which makes the easy to go even in the hands of an amateur. Skoda Yeti Active 4×2 in front is keeping up with the style trademark of Skoda motor. The car has a flat bumper in front which gives it a softer appeal. The wing shaped grille with dual toned bumper looks different from the brawny style which is so common with muscular SUVs. The car sports large round fog lamps which are all the more different than the usual small ones. The branded Skoda badge adds the finishing edge to the overall look. Halogen lamps in the front are striking and the handles and mirrors are elegantly body coloured. The car has a flat rear but the traditional C lights sit very well with the overall look. Interiors
Indian SUV fashion is accustomed to roomy 3 row sitting style but Skoda Yeti is a 2 row SUV, here is where car is differently designed from its contemporaries. But again this is what ensures roomy and practical interiors. Skoda Yeti Active 4×2 is a luxurious SUV with plush interiors and satisfies the taste for all the high end knick knacks which one asks for a luxurious drive experience. The beige interiors add the feel of sophistication the car cabin. Addition of cup holders and nets to hold stuff are intelligently placed which don’t clutter the interiors. Car is a perfect mix of fuel economy and looks to go with .
Engine and performance (power mileage, acceleration, and pick up)
Skoda Yeti Active 4×2 is powered by 2.0 litre, 1968 cc 138 BHP Turbocharged diesel engine which is liquid cooled and mounted with injection system. Yeti churns out a maximum power of 138 bhp at 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 nm at 1750-2500 rpm. The car holds well in case of acceleration.
Breaking and handling
Skoda Yeti Active 4×2 has a front wheel drive which comes with disc brakes with inner cooling in the front and customary disc brakes in the rear . The car comes with Anti lock brake system which is an advantage. The car comes mounted with McPherson suspension in front and multiple axle system at the rear.
