The new Toyota Fortuner 4x2 Manual by Toyota has been tagged under the name “The Art of Power” and it surely lives quite magnificently up to that tag. This D Segment Toyota Fortuner SUV has got some major changes prior to the earlier models. On the outside, Toyota has truly carved something amazing and unique which is sure to give striking look and bold graphics to everyone. It is designed to give an experience of lifetime. Under the hood it possesses an engine of 3.0L which is truly of unmatched quality and gives a great performance. This advanced masterpiece is not just the shear power or the exteriors, but also has a lot more to offer in the form of safety as well as comfort features. The interiors are quite spacious and give a sporty feel to the car. This new Fortuner is a 2 wheel drive with supports manual transmission . Also this car has been installed with state of the art braking and suspension system plus the 17” tyres supports this duo very well. Take the performance, safety, comfort or the class, it can easily outperform in every department when comparing to other SUV’s.

Exteriors

Toyota Fortuner 4x2 is available in as many as 6 colors namely Super White, Silver Mica Metallic, Grey Mica Metallic, Black Mica, Silky Gold Mica Metallic and Blue Metallic. Every color is very unique in its way. The dimensions are as follows: the overall length, width and height measures out to be 4705mm X 1840mm X 1850mm respectively. The front and rear tread are constructed using same width i.e. 1540mm. The 80litres fuel tank is certainly a good option for this SUV . The 12 spoke 17inch alloy wheels provide a great ground clearance of 220mm which is more than enough considering Indian on and off road conditions. The front grill as well as the door handles is chrome finished. One more striking feature is that the outside rear view mirrors which are body colored can be electronically adjusted as per our need. Other exterior features are roof rails, front fog lamps, side steps, rear spoiler etc. The front wiper has many intermittent functions and the headlamps come with washer and automatic HID (High Intensity Discharge). Plus the bonnet has been scooped out for sufficient airflow.

Interiors

The interiors of Toyota Fortuner 4x2 are as exciting as the exteriors. Extensive use of leather has been done on the seats which provide a good look. Plus the front seats are designed to give a sporty look. The 4 spoke steering wheel has a wood like finish and silver accent that provides a good grip for the driver, some leather work has also been done on it. The same is the case with gear lever knob. There are some other useful utilities present in the inside such as lockable glove compartment, MID (Multi Information Display), cup holders, illuminated cigarette lighter, two 12V power outlet etc.

Engine and Performance

Now this is the area of the car that will impress a lot of people. Toyota has surely done wonders with this car. The 4D 3.0L diesel engine produces a staggering 2982cc as engine displacement which is a lot when compare to the cars of this class. The engine is turbocharged and also supports inter cooling. There are 4 inline cylinders with 16 DOHC valves. This powerhouse engine can generate a maximum power output of 168.84bhp at the rate of 3600rpm and the maximum torque of 343Nm in the range between 1400 to 3400 rotations per minute. Toyota Fortuner 4x2 has a common rail type fuel supply system. The 5 speed manual transmission is quite responsive and provides a good boost while shifting gears. Overdrive is also installed which significantly reduces the power consumption required to maintain a steady speed, which ultimately reduces the amount of fuel required. The fuel economy comes out to be 9.25kmpl in city and 12.55kmpl on highways which is above average when compared to other SUV’s.

Braking and Handling

The Toyota Fortuner 4x2 MT comes factory fitted with double wishbone as front suspension and 4-Link Lateral rod as rear suspension and these fittings quite magnificently with the braking system of the SUV. The front and the rear brakes are ventilated and leading trailing drum brakes respectively. The 265/65 R17 tyres are tubeless radial tyres for a longer durability and sustainability to hold the integrity of the car. Also this SUV has a turning radius of about 5.6m. Safety features Toyota has never compromised with the safety of the car and the passengers, and this time too there are many safety features packed into this car. The ABS (Anti-Lock Braking system) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and brake assist are just the start. Obviously it has the SRS Airbags for driver and passenger. An immobilizer is a very good addition as anti theft security system . The outer body is very tough and. The GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) body proves a lot of toughness and can withstand even the most powerful collisions. Some other safety features include d/n rear view mirrors, door ajar warning, seat belt warning, sun visor etc. The steering wheel is collapsible, plus the rear defogger as well as the remote central locking is a good addition.  

Comfort features

The Toyota Fortuner 4x2 MT has covered all the bases when it comes to the comfort and convenience of the passengers and the driver. The powerful audio system with LCD touch screen has 6 speakers as well as six CD changer option, so there is no compromise with the in car entertainment. It has dual automatic air conditioner with air vents for 2nd and 3rd rows. Also the stereo controls and the Bluetooth along with MID options are mounted on the steering wheel for that extra ease while driving. There is a good rear camera equipped for parking and reversing purposes.
