How is the performance of Chevrolet Sail Hatchback?

Chevrolet Sail UVA is available with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine, which also do duty on Sail Sedan. To start with the 85bhp, 1.2 SMARTECH equipped Sail UVA is a good performer, the engine has a strong top-range and love to be revved. We find that the motor gives its best in the 4000-6000rpm band. But the engine is quite noisy and its gets vocal above 3000rpm. The low-end performance is not that impressive and you have to put effort and frequent gear shifts in traffic but once you get open roads , its peppy nature will impress you. On the other hand, the Sail UVA diesel looks more impressive as the car comes with the same 1.3 Multijet engine, which is used on a wide array of cars in India including closest competitor Dzire. The Sail comes with a fixed-geometry turbo and premium F17 transmission. It churns out the maxium power output of 77bhp. The engine is different from other Multijets; it is smoother than the others. You can feel the power delivery right from the starting, the turbo kicks in at around 2000rpm, but you don't feel it at all because it doesn’t come in sharply like the other multijets. The gradual power delivery makes the city drives effortless. The F17 gearbox is also in sync with the engine and gear-shift is precise and smooth, the well-weighted clutch makes the things even better. Mid-range performance is also good, but what it misses is the top-end fun, which is the strongest point of the Dzire. The suspension of the Sail UVA has been tuned for the Indian roads and it absorbs all the pot-holes, what is not impressive is its steering. The car's performance at high speeds is average as you don't confidence, so it might disappoint enthusiasts.
