Maruti Suzuki Ignis - High on price, low on value

I have been following the Ignis since the time it was unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo last year. The looks were, definitely, tantalising and I was getting curious with each of its details coming out, until the time the prices were announced. I believe the Maruti Ignis price has been kept too high. I was expecting it to fall around the Celerio or WagonR's range. First of all, it isn't that big in dimensions (almost equivalent to the Kwid), features are also too basic in starting variants and on top of it, the price starts at Rs 4.59 lakh. Why would a sensible person go for this option at this steep price? Instead, he will go for the Figo or the Swift or the Mahindra KUV100. Maruti might succeed in making the Ignis a hit, courtesy its vast service network, low maintenance and high fuel efficiency. But overall, as a package, the new Maruti kid falls short. If you'll ask me whether it's a value for money product? Definitely, not for me.
