Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the latest B+ segment vehicle that has been launched to take on the premium offering in the space. My friend ordered this piece of machine recently and I flabbergasted to see the amazing style and interiors. Baleno is a very crucial car for Maruti and that?s why it is sold all across the globe and is exported from India as well. It sits above the Swift and the first product that is based on the Maruti Suzuki?s new fifth-generation platform. And also, it?s the second product to be sold from exclusive NEXA showroom after Maruti S-Cross. The Baleno has been bestowed with Suzuki?s new liquid flow design philosophy to highlight its exteriors. The front profile of the vehicle gets V-shaped radiator grille. The muscular lines begin from the sweptback headlamps and then finishing to the shoulder line, extending all the way to the rear. Another positive side of Baleno is that it?s under 4-meters in length that gives it respite from excise taxes. The car seems to be pretty wide and gives a sporty stance. It looks a lot more premium with projector headlamps, chrome inserts and LED DRLs. The side is relatively simple while the rear with sloping looks makes the car look sporty. Overall, as projected, the Baleno appears to be bigger and premium as compared to its other B-segment cars. I will share something about the cabin as well. The interiors look refreshing with the new dashboard design. The all-black colour scheme is sporty and there are silver inserts for the door trims. The boot space is quite impressive and stands at 339 L while 5 passengers can sit in the vehicle with ease. The car is fully loaded with features including touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation, climate control, rear parking camera and sensors, engine start/stop button and instrument cluster with TFT screen. The carmaker has also added dual front airbags and ABS-EBD as standard fitment across the variants which excellent to say the least. Power figures could have been a bit more but sufficient if you are driving at moderate speed. The Baleno was launched to counter Hyundai i20 and Maruti has cleverly addressed the pricing section as well, undercutting its key rivals. The price of the base model starts at Rs 5.36 lakh and Rs. 6.51 Lakh for petrol and diesel variants respectively. While the top end trim is tagged at Rs. 8.41 Lakh with CVT transmission and Rs.8.5 lakh for the manual diesel. So, Maruti has smartly filled the gap it was missing for so many years.
