Mahindra & Mahindra introduced the Alturas G4 about 4 months back and though this premium luxury SUV segment hasn't witnessed much growth in the last few years, the Alturas G4 has been very competitive. If you see the sales of the past 4 months (216, 140, 321, 430) it seems the car has already entered the Ford Endeavour's domain. And as per the news, this SUV has now a waiting list. This is an incredible star, especially for a homegrown automaker. If you have asked me about this car three years back, I would have said that it's not a serious contender. But a lot has been going on in the Indian market in the past couple of years or so. For the first time in the segment, Mahindra has done a lot of homework in every department. And yes, the work does reflect. So, what makes it a compelling product? First I would mention the top-notch features which no other SUV in this category offers. These include quilted dual tone Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera and 9 airbags. Other outstanding features of this car include 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, 8-way power adjustable driver?s seat, Flexible/foldable third and second row, rain sensing wiper, electric sunroof, memory profile for ORVM and smart powered tailgate. The SUV comes with 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is powered by Android Auto, Apple CarPlay along with provision for navigation, music & calls and viewing feeds from the rearview camera. When it comes to power also, it does not disappoint at all. The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes with a 2.2.L diesel engine that pumps out 181PS and 420Nm of max torque, paired with Mercedes-sourced 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Overall, I would say Mahindra Alturas G4 has really started with a bang and just like other SUVs such as Scorpio and XUV500, this one will also live up to the brand?s expectations. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this car is underrated, given the number of goodies it comes with. I would rate this car 5 star.
